The Process of Dental Check ups

In the process of a dental treatment, you go to a dental office and the first person you will meet is the receptionist who will ask you your reason for coming. Hence it is important to tell your hygienist about your health concerns, anxieties, and allergies. You should also be open about your fears while you are sitting for dental checkup. If you start shivering at the sound of the drill, the dental team will have a difficult time to perform any surgery or procedure. There is nothing wrong with being scared of a dentist. Once the concerns and anxieties are shared then they can start working on your teeth. The first step that a dentist does is to clean your teeth. Next, the dentist looks at the problem inside your mouth after your teeth are cleaned. The dentist uses a metal probe with a small angled mirror to see behind and between the teeth and gums. This will help them in checking how soft the enamel and dentin is. The other things that the dentist will check is the swelling of gums, mouth sores, and redness. Another important procedure in a dental checkup is the measuring of periodontal pockets. If the pocket is any deeper than one and three millimeters then you are suffering from gum disease.

To determine if any issues lie below the surface they take a dental x-ray. After this step in your dental checkup, a qualified dentist will visit you, check the reports and x-rays and will decide on the next course of action. With the x-ray results the dentist will know if you have any bone loss, fractures, or any abnormalities within the visible surface of the gums.
